DOUBLE Murder Rocks Couva — 2 Women Shot Dead At Spa; Police On The Scene

UPDATE: The younger sister of murdered client, Cheryl Dixon, has expressed shock and anger over the killing. Speaking to reporters near the crime scene, Susan Hospedales questioned how someone could lose their life while visiting a beauty salon. “Of course, we’re not safe anywhere. If you come to do your hair, you’re getting shot. That’s terrible.”

Describing her sister, she said, “Cheryl is a very hard-working person. Very, very hard-working. Disciplined and determined person.”

Susan also condemned the loss of innocent lives. “Yes, lives don’t belong to you. So you’re not supposed to take lives like that.”

She recalled initially being unaware that her sister had died. “I couldn’t believe it, first of all. I didn’t even know she had died. I called her [phone] and asked if she was hospitalized. And then they said, no, she’s dead.”

Two (2) women are dead — a beauty spa owner and a client — following a brutal shooting incident in Couva this morning (Wednesday 28th October, 2026). The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old businesswoman, Kavita Deosarine of Midway Park, Freeport, and 64-year-old Cheryl Dickson of La Croix Street, Couva.

According to initial reports, the women were gunned down at a spa called “SOHO Beauty Haven,” located upstairs Value Optical at Veneris Plaza, along the Southern Main Road in Couva, around 9:20 AM.

Reports state that a client, later identified as Dickson, was inside the beauty spa when a gunman dressed in a blue coverall entered, armed with a firearm. The suspect, described as slim-built, dark-skinned, and of African descent, approached Dickson and enquired about the vehicle she was driving.

He then pointed the firearm at her and shot her twice.

The gunman subsequently entered a room inside the establishment, where he confronted Deosarine, the owner of the spa.

A short while later, two (2) loud explosions were heard before the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. However, both women succumbed to their injuries.

Police are currently at the scene.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding this double murder.

More on this as it becomes available.
