NCIC Prepares To Welcome Over 300,000 Visitors To Divali Nagar 2026

The National Council of Indian Culture (NCIC) said it is preparing to host Divali Nagar 2026, the premier and largest Divali celebration in the English-speaking Caribbean. Taking place at the iconic NCIC Nagar in Chaguanas from 30th October to 7th November, 2026, the NCIC notes that this year’s 9-day festival is projected to welcome over 300,000 visitors locally, regionally and internationally.

In a Media Release this afternoon (Monday 26th October, 2026), the NCIC said, “Under the 2026 theme ‘Viveka: Discerning Truth in the Age of Al,’ the festival explores the timeless Eastern philosophical concept of Viveka (intellectual discernment and wisdom) as a guiding light through modern digital landscapes and technological evolution.”

Over nine (9) spectacular nights, Divali Nagar 2026 will transform Chaguanas into a beacon of culture, light and unity.

According to the NCIC, attendees can look forward to:

  • Cultural Staging & Entertainment: Daily performances featuring top local and international artistes, folk dance troupes, classical musicians and the energetic youth showcase, “Yuva Manch.”
  • Commercial & Trade Exhibition: An expansive corporate and commercial market featuring hundreds of booths offering traditional clothing, fine jewelry, artisanal crafts, technology and corporate displays.
  • Culinary Delights: A comprehensive showcase of authentic Indian and Caribbean vegetarian cuisine.
  • Nightly Illuminations: Thousands of traditional deeyas along with modern lighting designs creating an enchanting visual experience.
  • Religious Groups, NGOs & Thematic Exhibition: Showcasing spirituality, community service, cultural heritage and educational displays.

With enhanced visitor infrastructure, expanded parking, augmented security measures and an elevated corporate presentation, the NCIC said Divali Nagar 2026 “promises an unprecedented experience for families, communities and tourists alike.”

Admission to the main grounds remains open to the public daily from 10:00 AM. For continuous updates, schedule details and live streaming links, visit the official NCIC social media platforms or contact the NCIC Headquarters.

The Divali Nagar 2026 is sponsored by Sangeet 106.1, Trinidad & Tobago Guardian, CNC3, Xtra Foods, Coca Cola and Blue Waters Limited.

In what turned out to be a highly controversial move, even drawing criticism from Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, for its irony, the NCIC announced Blue Waters as an official Diamond Sponsor of Divali Nagar 2026 in a Media Release on Friday (23rd October, 2026), as the iconic cultural event celebrates its historic 40th anniversary.

The NCIC said at the time, “In recognition of this significant milestone and inspired by the continued growth and positive impact of Divali Nagar, Blue Waters has chosen to strengthen its relationship with the NCIC by increasing its sponsorship commitment for 2026. A long-standing participant and supporter of Divali Nagar, Blue Waters has been part of the event's journey for many years, witnessing its growth into one of Trinidad and Tobago's most anticipated cultural celebrations.”

The NCIC added that it “warmly welcomes this enhanced partnership, which reflects Blue Waters’ continued confidence in the legacy of Divali Nagar and its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote culture and community. As Divali Nagar marks four (4) decades of celebrating and preserving Indian culture and heritage, the support of corporate partners such as Blue Waters remains invaluable to the continued success and development of this national cultural institution.”

The Media Release concluded by saying, “The NCIC extends its sincere appreciation to Blue Waters for its years of involvement and for commemorating this important anniversary through its Diamond Sponsorship.”
