Home Invasion Suspect Shot Dead By Police In Princes Town — Relatives Dispute Involvement In Criminal Activities

UPDATE 2: Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, is reminding members of the public that any act of violence or aggression towards Police Officers places lives at risk and can have tragic consequences.

“I wish to strongly caution members of the public against confronting Police Officers who are lawfully executing their duties. When Officers identify themselves and issue lawful instructions, those instructions must be obeyed. Any person who chooses to threaten, attack, or advance upon Officers with deadly weapons places everyone present in grave danger and creates circumstances that may necessitate the use of force to protect life. I urge all citizens to comply with Police directions and allow the legal process to take its course.”

In keeping with established protocol, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) notes that the incident has been reported to the relevant investigative authorities and enquiries are ongoing.

The TTPS said it “remains committed to ensuring that all incidents involving the use of lethal force by Police Officers are subject to thorough and impartial investigation.”

A man is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident at his home in Princes Town this morning (Sunday 1st November, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Timion Francois of Nagee Road, New Grant, Princes Town.

According to reports, Francois, who was allegedly wanted in connection with a home invasion, was shot at his home during a Police confrontation, around 10:15 AM, after he reportedly attempted to chop members of the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF) with a cutlass.

The incident unfolded after Officers arrived at the premises in search of Francois. They identified themselves as Police Officers and encountered a man armed with a cutlass. The suspect allegedly became aggressive, ignored repeated commands to drop the weapon and advanced towards the Officers while brandishing the cutlass.

Faced with what was perceived to be an immediate threat to their lives and safety, Officers discharged their service firearms, striking the suspect.

The wounded man was immediately conveyed to the Princes Town Health Facility. However, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Francois was said to be a suspect in a home invasion which occurred at 5th. Company, Indian Walk, Moruga, around 1:00 PM on Saturday afternoon (31st October, 2026).
