73-Year-Old Woman Kidnapped From San Juan Home, Rescued At Sea In Multi-Agency Operation

A 73-year-old kidnapping victim was successfully rescued late last night (Wednesday 25th March, 2026), following a co-ordinated intelligence-led operation which resulted in the interception of a vessel and the arrest of eight (8) individuals. The victim has been identified as 73-year-old landlord Tara Poliah, who was abducted by a Venezuelan tenant and several accomplices from her home along Don Miguel Road in San Juan, shortly after 7:00 PM. Poliah’s kidnapping was captured on CCTV footage, which also showed her abductors bundling her into a white Nissan AD wagon (PEA 3592), before fleeing the scene in a Northerly direction. She was rescued from a vessel at sea several hours later.   According to the footage, one of the Venezuelan suspects, who was renting an apartment from the victim, appeared to have lured her outside, as she is heard asking if he was leaving and enquiring about the rent. WASA: Temporary Closure of Fondes Amandes Road, St. Ann’s

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising of a partial road closure on Fondes Amandes Road, St. Ann’s , for urgent sewer main works, as follows: DATE: Monday 23rd March, 2026 to Tuesday 31st March, 2026. PERIOD: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution and follow Police or Traffic Warden instructions. The Authority notes that, where feasible, one (1) lane will remain open to avoid full closures. Weekend works will occur to expedite completion. Over $400,000 Marijuana Shipment Seized At Port-of-Spain Customs Bonded Area; Suspect Arrested

The Customs and Excise Division (C&ED) said it successfully intercepted a shipment of marijuana during routine operations at a Port-of-Spain Customs Bonded Area on Wednesday 18th March, 2026. In a Media Release today (Wednesday 25th March, 2026), C&ED said, “Following a swift response from the Preventive Branch, Officers conducted a detailed examination of a shipment presented for clearance. The inspection revealed four (4) packages containing a green plant-like material concealed within the cargo. Field testing confirmed the substance as cannabis, with an estimated street value of $424,490. 34-Year-Old Employee of Murdered Businessman Danny Guerra Shot Dead In Matura

An employee of murdered businessman Danny Guerra is dead following a shooting incident at Trini River Lime Resort in Matura on Monday night (23rd March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Rondell Adolphus, also known as “Patch” or “Ponkie,” of Immortelle Crescent, North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande. He worked as a Quarry Supervisor and machine operator at DG Homes, which was owned by Guerra. The deadly attack in Matura comes ten (10) days after Guerra was also gunned down. Both Guerra and Adolphus were previously linked to threats against Minister of Defence, Wayne Sturge, according to Police. Reports state that Adolphus checked in alone at a cabin at Trini River Lime on Monday (23rd March, 2026), and was later joined by a woman. Update On Fire Incident At Carapichaima West Secondary School

The Ministry of Education is providing an update regarding a fire incident on Monday afternoon (23rd March, 2026) at Carapichaima West Secondary School. In a Media Release today (Tuesday 24th March, 2026), the Ministry said smoke was detected at approximately 1:50 PM in a room located on the top floor of the Form 5 building block. “The school's emergency response protocols were immediately activated, and by 1:55 PM, all staff and students were safely evacuated to the designated muster point. The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service (TTFS) was contacted immediately, and responded promptly.” At the time of the incident, forty-two (42) teachers and one hundred and three (103) students were present on the compound. No injuries or casualties were reported, and ambulance services remained on standby throughout the incident. The Ministry is advising that Form 5 students had successfully completed their Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) mock examinations prior to the incident. ...

UPDATE (25/03/26): The Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT) said the missing sisters were found alone last night (Tuesday 24th March, 2026) at a house in Palo Seco. A member of the public reportedly tipped off investigators to their location. “Excellent Work by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Valencia and Champs Fleurs on Tuesday (24th March, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works.  According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Valencia and Champs Fleurs are as follows:  VALENCIA (9:00 AM to 1:00 PM) From LP #6 to LP #11 on Silica Sands Road. CHAMPS FLEURS (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM) From Palm Drive off Mendez Drive. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.
