BODY of 70-Year-Old Woman Found At Her Belmont Home — With Head Wound

The body of an elderly woman was found on the premises of her home in Belmont on Christmas Day (Thursday 25th December, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 70-year-old Shirlyn Rampersad of #20 Gonzales Circle, Belmont.

According to reports, Rampersad’s 72-year-old husband, who lives at another location, went to drop off food for her, but found the house empty. Upon checking around the property, he came across his wife’s body behind a wooden structure, around 2:00 PM. She was lying in a foetal position, clad in a black and white striped blouse and a black and white skirt.

A wound was observed to the back of the elderly woman’s head. Based on the location she was found behind her house, it is believed she fell from a precipice and struck her head.

Police were notified and responded to the scene.

A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who examined the body and officially pronounced her dead. The body was ordered removed and taken to the Forensic Sciences Centre, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted at a later date, to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have so far classified the incident as an unnatural death.

Investigators have indicated that they will wait on the autopsy findings before making any further pronouncements.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding her death.

More on this as it becomes available.
