Two (2) men are dead and a third hospitalized following a horrific road traffic accident in Plaisance Park, Pointe-a-Pierre, early this morning (Saturday 25th April, 2026). The deceased have been identified as 38-year-old Marques Figaro, aka “Rasta Markie,” of Cypress Ridge, Union Hall and 27-year-old Tyrek James, aka “Skunk,” a labourer of Marabella. Both friends were passengers in the vehicle.
Figaro had been active in the local music scene and James previously represented Trinidad and Tobago at the Under-17 level in football.
According to reports, the pair were passengers in a silver Nissan Almera (PBO 2365), driven by 25-year-old Denilson St. Vincent of Marabella, heading South along the Southern Main Road, when the driver swerved left in an attempt to avoid roadworks carried out by the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) along the Western lane, around 3:40 AM. The vehicle then crossed the roadway and slammed into a concrete and steel wall on the Eastern side.
Figaro was seated in the rear of the vehicle and James in the front passenger seat.
The impact caused extensive damage to the front and sides of the car. No other vehicles were involved in the devastating crash.
Police, Fire and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene.
Figaro and James were pronounced dead at the scene by District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr. Santlal. Emergency Health Services personnel transported the seriously injured driver to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he remains under medical care.
The bodies were later removed to the San Fernando Mortuary, pending post-mortem examinations.
The wrecked vehicle was towed to the St. Margaret’s Police Station.
Police said efforts to interview the driver were unsuccessful due to his medical condition.
Investigations are continuing into the fatal crash.
More on this as it becomes available.
