TTPS Disrupts Home Invasion Crew Hours After Gasparillo Attack — 1 Suspect Killed, 2 Arrested, Firearms Recovered

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it has successfully disrupted another organized home invasion crew; less than a week after the dismantling of the “Tall Boots Crew” in the Central Division. This development was as a direct result of swift investigative work and co-ordinated operational action across multiple units.

According to the TTPS, this latest incident began around 10:08 AM on Wednesday (6th May, 2026), when four (4) masked men posing as customers descended upon the home of a 67‑year‑old pensioner at Ben Lomond Village, Gasparillo. The suspects, armed and disguised in coveralls and masks, forced their way into the residence, assaulted the victim, and robbed them before escaping in a grey Toyota Aqua (PEL 6685).

Officers of the Southern Division responded immediately, processed the scene, and initiated intelligence‑driven follow‑up enquiries. 

Later that night, around 9:25 PM, the TTPS said Officers of the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF), Southern Division Emergency Response and Tactical Unit (SDRETF), Marabella Police Station, and San Fernando Police Station, acted on credible intelligence that a group of men armed with illegal firearms were preparing to launch another home invasion at Union Park East, Marabella.

Upon arrival, Officers encountered approximately eight (8) men gathered in a yard, who, upon seeing the approaching law enforcement Officers, attempted to flee into nearby bushes. During the pursuit, two (2) armed suspects pointed firearms at Officers, resulting in an armed confrontation and one (1) of the suspects receiving fatal injuries. A revolver loaded with six (6) rounds of .38 ammunition was recovered.

Two (2) additional suspects were also arrested at the scene, a 24-year-old of Quarry Road, Gasparillo, who was found in possession of a revolver and six (6) rounds of ammunition, and a 20-year-old of Union Park East, Marabella, who was found with a cellphone believed to have been stolen during the Gasparillo home invasion earlier that day.

As investigations continue, Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, stated that the TTPS was aggressively pursuing the misguided individuals who are hellbent on targeting law abiding citizens in their homes. He stated: “Let me be clear that the TTPS will not allow home invasion gangs to terrorize the elderly, the vulnerable, or any law‑abiding citizen. Yesterday’s attack [Wednesday] in Ben Lomond Village was cowardly and calculated but our Officers moved with precision, and within hours the suspects responsible were intercepted. When armed criminals choose to point guns at Police Officers, they alone determine the outcome. The message is simple, if you engage in violence, my Officers will defend themselves and the citizens of our beloved country.”
