UPDATE: The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is further advising the public that authorization has been extended for light motor vehicles ONLY to utilize the Eastbound and Westbound lanes of the Priority Bus Route (PBR) from Arima to Port-of-Spain until 11:59 PM on Tuesday (2nd June, 2026).
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is advising the general public that authorization has been granted for light motor vehicles ONLY to utilize the Eastbound and Westbound lanes of the Priority Bus Route (PBR) from Arima to Port-of-Spain today (Monday 1st June, 2026), from 2:00 PM to 11:59 PM.
This is said to be in response to transportation challenges faced by thousands of commuters today as a result of a three-day shutdown by over 5,000 maxi taxi operators.
The Ministry said motorists are asked to “comply with all lawful instructions from Police Officers and traffic signs and to exercise due care and attention while using the route.”
Please be guided accordingly.
