Fire Destroys Cunupia Home In Alleged Arson Attack — FIVE (5) Homeless

UPDATE: Owner of the destroyed home, Candice Gosine, is claiming that her former boyfriend was responsible for the attack, alleging that he had been terrorizing her and her family for months, leading up to the devastating fire.

Gosine said the ordeal began last year, when her ex-boyfriend repeatedly threatened to kill her and her relatives and warned that he would not stop until they were all dead. She alleged that the night before the fire, the man came to her home, pelted the house with large stones and threatened to burn it down before leaving.

Upon leaving for work the next morning, the suspect allegedly scaled the perimeter of the property, used a grinder to pry open two (2) safes, stole cash, jewellery and other valuables, before setting the house ablaze, according to Gosine.

She said despite making numerous reports to the Police regarding the alleged threats and harassment, the abuse continued unabated.

The exact cause of the fire is being investigated, while Police are expected to continue enquiries into the woman’s allegations.

Gosine said she now has no where to live following the destruction of her home — “I've lost everything.”

Police are investigating an alleged arson attack on a home in Cunupia, which occurred in broad daylight this morning (Tuesday 21st July, 2026). 

According to reports, the home, located along Madras Road, was set ablaze around 10:00 AM, leaving 39-year-old Candice Gosine, who is a United States citizen, and four (4) family members homeless.

Fire Services were notified and responded to the scene, eventually extinguishing the blaze.

Investigations are continuing into the cause of the fire.

22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Morvant — Face Disfigured In Hail of Bullets

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. 19-Year-Old Driver Dies In Cocorite Crash — Passenger Hospitalized

A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. According to reports, Rahaman was driving a white Nissan AD wagon, heading West along the Western Main Road with a passenger later identified as 21-year-old Faraaz Hosein of Hosein Drive, St. Lucien Road, Diego Martin. The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Chunilal Bandoo of Mohammed Lane, Mc Inroy Street, Curepe. He was the father of a daughter, who resides in the United States. A man wanted for extortion is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). BODY of Woman Found Inside Abandoned Security Booth In San Fernando — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026). While unconfirmed, the deceased is believed to be Marcia Thomas Singh, who residents said appeared to be in her 60s. She had been apparently residing in the security booth for some time. TWO (2) Prison Officers And Inmate At Golden Grove Charged With Conspiracy Offences

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), two (2) Prison Officers attached to the Golden Grove Prison, Arouca, and an inmate on remand for murder, were expected to appear before a Master of the High Court on Thursday (17th September, 2026), charged with multiple offences, arising out of an attempt to smuggle illegal contraband into the prison in August 2026. The TTPS said on 24th August, 2026, a female Prison Officer (PO) was searched by Officers at the Golden Grove Prison, after she attempted to enter the premises with quantities of cannabis, cigarettes and other contraband items. She was later handed over to members of the DCP Operations Team, who commenced a 3-week long, intense investigation.
