The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising motorists that it will be conducting overhead line works along the Westbound carriageway of Wrightson Road, in the vicinity of Radisson Hotel, which will necessitate the interruption of the normal flow of traffic between 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday (27th May, 2026). Drivers and pedestrians are advised to follow the guidance of the Police Officers on duty. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by this traffic interruption. Please be guided accordingly.

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Santa Cruz and Sangre Grande on Wednesday (27th May, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.   According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Santa Cruz and Sangre Grande are as follows:  SANTA CRUZ Upper La Canoa Road and all associated side streets. SANGRE GRANDE Mandillion Road. Margaret Harry Drive, Oropouche Road. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

The Ministry of Homeland Security is inviting Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified entities for the upgrade of the Passport Issuing and Control System (PICS) to an e-Passport platform. The Ministry said on Monday (25th May, 2026) that the intent of this Expression of Interest (EOI) is to “identify private and public sector entities that would be interested in providing the service to Upgrade the Passport Issuing and Control System from Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) to Electronic Passport (e-Passport) Issuing and Control System for the Immigration Division, Ministry of Homeland Security (MHS), Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.” The Ministry notes that it will “carefully review all submissions to ensure that entities possess the necessary resources, expertise and experience to provide this service. The Ministry of Finance is advising landlords and rent-collecting agents that the deadline for mandatory registration under the Landlord Business Surcharge has been extended to 30th June, 2026. In a Media Release today (Tuesday 26th May, 2026), the Ministry said the extension follows public engagement undertaken by Minister of Finance, the Honourable Davendranath Tancoo, MP, and is “intended to give citizens additional time to complete the registration process, organize the required documents and avoid penalties.” The Minister recently visited Board of Inland Revenue (BIR) offices in San Fernando, Port-of-Spain and Tunapuna , where he observed landlords coming forward and making efforts to comply with the new registration requirements. A man is currently hospitalized in critical condition following a shooting incident outside his home in St. Helena on Sunday night (24th May, 2026). The victim has been identified as Jevan Stewart, aka ‘Tallo,’ a mechanic of Madras Road, St. Helena. According to reports, Stewart exited his vehicle and was attempting to open his front gate, around 10:05 PM, when a man dressed in a white t-shirt, black pants and a face mask alighted from a white Toyota Aqua, which was parked nearby. Seconds later, several loud explosions were heard. Relatives rushed outside and found Stewart bleeding from injuries to his head and hand as the gunman fled the scene. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded. Tonight will be mostly fair but hazy, with a light breeze and isolated showers. Gusty winds are likely to occur in/near showers. The Met Office notes that a high concentration of Saharan dust is expected. Persons sensitive to changes in air quality are advised to exercise the necessary precautions. The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure is advising the public of a temporary traffic disruption along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, affecting the Northbound far-left lane and shoulder, after the Tarouba Ramp, on Tuesday (26th May, 2026). This temporary disruption has become necessary to facilitate repair works to a roadway depression. These works are scheduled to take place between the hours of 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM (weather permitting). In light of the above, motorists are advised to: Proceed with caution and observe all directional signs, barriers and traffic management measures in place. The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is calling on the national community to support responsible water use, as the North-West region navigates the lingering effects of the 2026 Dry Season. While the Rainy Season was officially declared in May 2026 , the Authority notes that a transition period of up to two (2) months is typical before surface water sources fully stabilize, a reality that affects not only the North-West but also serves as a reminder for the entire country. In a Media Release today (Monday 25th May, 2026), WASA said the North-West region has been “particularly impacted by lower than average rainfall, affecting all surface water facilities, including the Maraval Water Treatment Plant and numerous medium to small-scale intakes. An anti-crime operation conducted in the Mayaro district resulted in the detention of thirty-three (33) persons and the seizure of ammunition and narcotics on Saturday morning (23rd May, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), six (6) premises were searched during the operation, between 1:00 AM and 7:00 AM, resulting in the detention of thirty (30) undocumented Venezuelan nationals, comprising twenty-one (21) females and nine (9) males. Additionally, three (3) persons were arrested for separate offences; a 37-year-old man of Guayaguayare was arrested for possession of ammunition, after Officers allegedly found four (4) rounds of 9mm ammunition.  Enquiries are also continuing into outstanding reports of larceny of cables, larceny of motor vehicle, and robbery with violence.
