Today: Sunny, Hazy, Scattered Showers — Mild/Moderate Saharan Dust; 33°C Max
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect sunny and hazy conditions today (Wednesday 30th September, 2026), interrupted by partly cloudy intervals with scattered showers and a low chance of the isolated thunderstorm. Showery activity is likely to increase during the evening and early tomorrow morning, with settled periods at times. There is a medium (40%) chance of these showers becoming heavy and/or thundery over some areas.
Gusty winds and street/flash flooding can occur in the event of heavy showers or thunderstorms.
The Met Office notes that a mild or moderate concentration of Saharan dust is present in the atmosphere. Sensitive persons should take the necessary precautions.
The forecast maximum temperature today will be 33°C at both Piarco in Trinidad and Crown Point in Tobago.
Seas are moderate with waves near 1.5m in open waters and below 1m in sheltered areas.
Recommendations for outdoor activities today:
Persons heading outdoors today should prepare for hot, sunny and hazy conditions, while keeping an umbrella or rain gear nearby as scattered showers are possible and may become heavy or thundery, particularly during the evening and early tomorrow morning. Stay alert for sudden gusty winds, street or flash flooding and reduced visibility if heavy showers or thunderstorms develop, and avoid crossing flooded roadways. With temperatures reaching 33°C at both Piarco and Crown Point, stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, use sunscreen and limit prolonged exposure to the midday heat. The mild to moderate concentration of Saharan dust may affect air quality, so sensitive persons should take the necessary precautions, especially during outdoor activities. Those venturing onto the water should also exercise caution, as seas are moderate with waves around 1.5m in open waters and below 1m in sheltered areas.
