The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Arima, El Socorro, Caura, Charlieville, Claxton Bay, Dow Village and South Oropouche on Tuesday (27th January, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works.  According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Arima, El Socorro, Caura, Charlieville, Claxton Bay, Dow Village and South Oropouche are as follows:  ARIMA (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM) All customers from LP #17 to LP #22 De Gannes Street, including Woodford Street between Longden Street and Church Street, Arima. 58-Year-Old Man Arrested For Cultivating 38 Cannabis Plants At Fyzabad Home

Officers attached to the Fyzabad/Oropouche Criminal Investigations Department (CID), South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF), Crime Patrol Unit and Canine Unit, conducted a co-ordinated operation at approximately 6:00 AM on Friday (23rd January, 2026) in the Fyzabad district. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the operation was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Thompson, Supt. Jaggernath, ASPs Corrie, Forbes and Lewis, and supervised by Insp. 30-Year-Old Man In Court For Murder Along Brian Lara Promenade

A 30-year-old man has appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of Brad Rico Guerra, which occurred on 13th November, 2025. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Denzil Phillip of Barataria was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master Mohammed in the North ‘D’ Court, on Friday (23rd January, 2026).  The matter was adjourned to 22nd April, 2026.  Guerra, 36, of Port-of-Spain, was found along the Brian Lara Promenade, Port-of-Spain, on 13th November, 2025, with stab wounds to his body. 37-Year-Old Bank Employee Collapses, Dies At ‘Soaka Till Sunrise’ Fete In Chaguaramas

A man is dead shortly after collapsing at a Carnival fete at O2 Park in Chaguaramas on Sunday morning (25th January, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Vishal Sookhoo of Red Hill, Arouca, who was a Senior Loans Officer at ANSA Bank. According to reports, Vishal was attending the Soaka Till Sunrise fete with a group of friends, when he complained of feeling unwell and suddenly collapsed, around 7:45 AM. Friends and on-site medical personnel immediately rendered assistance. He was subsequently conveyed to the St. James Medical Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 8:45 AM. An autopsy has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of death. A packet of non-prescription pills was allegedly found in Vishal’s possession, although authorities could not confirm what type of pills they are or whether he had consumed any. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect mostly sunny and breezy conditions today (Monday 26th January, 2026), despite brisk, light to moderate showery interruptions. Tonight will be fair and cool, with a light breeze and the isolated shower. The Met Office notes that winds can gust at times, especially in the vicinity of showers. The forecast maximum temperature today will be 31°C at Piarco in Trinidad and 30°C at Crown Point in Tobago.  Seas are moderate with waves 2m to 2.5m in open waters and 1m in sheltered areas.  Please continue to pay attention to the latest forecasts, alerts, and information issued by the TTMS.

Point Fortin Washing Machine Thieves Arrested

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said two (2) men have been arrested by Officers of the Point Fortin Police Station in connection with the theft of a washing machine on Saturday (24th January, 2026). According to reports, the victim was contacted by a relative and informed that a neighbour had observed a man park a white van in front of her house and was in the process of removing a washing machine from the garage, located on the Eastern side of the property.  Upon checking the CCTV cameras on her cellphone, the victim observed her Mabe twin-tub washing machine, valued at TT $3,000, being placed into the van, which was parked a short distance away. The suspect then drove off with the appliance.
