Tonight will be fair.  Gusty winds and street flooding may occur near heavy showers or thunderstorms.  The Met Office notes that there is a mild/moderate concentration of Saharan dust in the atmosphere. According to the TTPS, in this scheme, fraudsters present counterfeit, altered, forged, or stolen cheques as payment for goods or services. They often create a sense of urgency, requesting that goods be released or delivered immediately. Businesses that release goods before confirming that the cheque has been successfully cleared, may suffer significant financial losses when the cheque is subsequently returned unpaid. A man has appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of 81-year-old pensioner, James Le Cadre, which occurred on 27th June, 2026. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), 22-year-old Kendelle Michael Seales, aka ‘Shango,’ of Valencia, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master Raydon Dalrymple-Watts, in the High Court North ‘B,’ on Tuesday (21st July, 2026). The matter was adjourned to 10th October, 2026. Le Cadre, of Plantation Road, Valencia, was found burnt to death at his home on 27th June, 2026. A male suspect was arrested in connection with the incident on 14th July, 2026, in the Valencia district, by Officers of the Valencia Police Post.  Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) A man is dead following a shooting incident near his home in Chaguanas last night (Thursday 23rd July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old taxi driver, Joel Macoon of 111 New Settlement, Caroni Savannah Road, Chaguanas. According to reports, Macoon was crossing the road near his home, heading to a nearby mini-mart, when a gunman alighted from a silver Toyota Axio and opened fire in his direction. The gunman then re-entered the waiting vehicle, which sped away from the scene. Macoon collapsed on the roadway after being shot. Officers from the Chaguanas Police Station were alerted by the E999 Police Command Centre to a report of loud explosions heard in the area, and responded to the scene, shortly after 7:00 PM. The area was secured while investigators processed evidence. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Macoon dead at the scene. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Princes Town today (Friday 24th July, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.   According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Princes Town are as follows:  From LP #A179 Cleghorn Village to LP #232 Naparima Mayaro Road, Princes Town, including Friendship Road, 2nd Corial Road, Road A, Road B, Corial Road and all associated side streets. In addition to the above areas in Princes Town,  several other parts of Trinidad may also experience a loss of electricity today (Friday 24th July, 2026).  T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

UPDATE (27/07/26): Dominic Hadeed, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Waters Products Limited, received a warm and emotional welcome from employees today (Monday 27th July, 2026), as he returned to the company’s operations for the first time since his Preventive Detention Order (PDO) was revoked. A video circulating on social media showed employees applauding and celebrating his return, with many describing the moment as a significant one for the Blue Waters family. Hadeed, who had been away from the business during the period of his detention, was greeted by cheering staff members who expressed their happiness at seeing him back at the company. UPDATE 2:  Reports state that little Brithanny boarded a migrant pirogue off Erin en route to the place she called home in San Rafael, Tucupita, Venezuela, hoping to reunite with her grandparents and celebrate her first schooling milestone — graduating from kindergarten. Instead, she died while desperately trying to reach for her mother as she and at least twenty-eight (28) others were plunged into the ocean by the sinking vessel. Her final rites were performed at the Boysie Boodoo Crematorium in Penal. Speaking with the Trinidad Express, Brithanny’s Trinidadian stepfather, Sharzam Hosein, said: “The guy who died [Edwin Parra], he had grabbed Brithanny and they all swam out to the shore. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced that cashier stations at all Licensing Offices nationwide have extended their operating hours to 3:30 PM daily, effective from Monday 20th July, 2026. The Ministry said in a Media Release on 16th July, 2026 that “extended hours will apply to cash, LINX, and cheque payments and are intended to provide members of the public with additional time to complete their transactions while enhancing the overall customer service experience. This initiative forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve service delivery, enhance accessibility, and better serve members of the public.” The Ministry added that it will “continue implementing practical measures to improve the efficiency and accessibility of services provided through the Licensing Division.” Please be guided accordingly.
