FOUR (4) Men Arrested Minutes After Vehicle Theft In Tunapuna

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), four (4) men were arrested and eight (8) street checks conducted during Operation VTRAP (Vehicular Theft Reduction and Prevention), aimed at reducing and preventing motor vehicle larceny in areas West of the North Central Division. The TTPS said around 4:45 AM this morning (Monday 14th September, 2026), while conducting checks along the Eastern Main Road, St. Augustine, PC Redhead and a party of Officers stopped a white Nissan Wingroad, which was proceeding West along the roadway at a high rate of speed with its headlights off, in the vicinity of a school. The Officers reported that the occupants of the vehicle matched the descriptions of suspects involved in a report of larceny, which occurred in the Tunapuna district around 4:35 AM this morning. T&TEC: NO Electricity Today In Parts of Morvant/Cascade

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Morvant/Cascade today (Monday 14th September, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works — 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.   According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Morvant/Cascade are as follows:  Along Marie Road, Mc Kai Lands, including Power 102, Digicel cell sites and Idlewild Road, Knightsbridge, Cascade. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

Police Detain 53 Venezuelan Nationals In Curepe During Operation Border Shield

Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) have detained fifty-three (53) Venezuelan nationals during an intelligence-led operation conducted in Curepe. According to the TTPS, “Operation Border Shield” was conducted between 11:00 PM on Friday night (11th September, 2026) and 5:00 AM on Saturday morning (12th September, 2026). It involved Officers of the CID/CRO Special Operations Unit, Immigration Investigations Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), Coastal and Air Support Unit (CASU), Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), Stolen Vehicles Squad and Transport Branch. During the operation, the TTPS said Officers proceeded to a location along the Southern Main Road, Curepe, where fifty-three (53) adult Venezuelan nationals — four (4) men and forty-nine (49) women — were found and subsequently arrested after investigations revealed that they had entered Trinidad and Tobago illegally. Update On Security Measures At San Juan North Secondary School Following Incident

The Ministry of Education said it is aware of a reported incident at the San Juan North Secondary School which occurred on Thursday (10th September, 2026), involving the entry of an unauthorized individual onto the school compound and the reported robbery of personal property from a member of staff. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is currently investigating the matter. In a Media Release on Saturday (12th September, 2026), the Ministry said in response to the incident, it has “initiated emergency works to address an identified vulnerability along the rear perimeter of the school compound. The National Maintenance Training and Security Company Limited (MTS) has been engaged to undertake the necessary remedial works to further strengthen the physical security of the compound.” The Ministry, through its Health, Safety and Security Services Unit (HSSSU), has also reviewed the school’s security protocols and said it “continues to assess the arrangements in place. Suspect Held For Robbery And Kidnapping Offences Against TTRS Drivers

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a male suspect, described by investigators as the “mastermind” behind two (2) reports of robbery with violence against TT RideShare (TTRS) drivers, has been arrested and is to be charged in connection with the incidents. Reports indicate that a 25-year-old victim was driving his Toyota Yaris around 7:45 PM on 10th June, 2026, when he received a request via the TTRS app for a location drop-off in the Laventille area. The victim proceeded to 8th Avenue, Barataria, where he picked up a man and proceeded to Laventille Road. There, he allegedly observed a man walking along the roadway armed with a gun. He further alleged that the passenger in the vehicle attempted to strangle him, causing his vehicle to collide with another. TWO (2) Men Shot Dead By Police In Maloney — Linked To Murder of Police Officer Romell Douglas

Reports state that two (2) men are dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Maloney on Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). The deceased have been identified as 23-year-old Tyrique De Coteau and 19-year-old Tristan Martin. The men were said to be wanted by Police in connection with serious criminal offences. De Coteau was reportedly wanted in connection with several robberies in the Northern Division, while Police described Martin as an alleged known gang member, linked to several firearm-related offences. Both men were also allegedly wanted in connection with the shooting death of 48-year-old Police Constable Romell Kerry Douglas  in Caroni last month. 19-Year-Old Driver Dies In Cocorite Crash — Passenger Hospitalized

A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. According to reports, Rahaman was driving a white Nissan AD wagon, heading West along the Western Main Road with a passenger later identified as 21-year-old Faraaz Hosein of Hosein Drive, St. Lucien Road, Diego Martin. However, upon reaching the vicinity of Peake Trading Limited, Rahaman reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which entered the compound and struck a utility pole and part of the fencing, around 10:30 PM. The high impact caused extensive damage to the front and passenger compartments of the vehicle and also displaced the pole. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene.
