NO Electricity On Wednesday In Parts of Maraval, Claxton Bay, Sangre Grande, Maracas St. Joseph

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that  planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Maraval, Claxton Bay, Sangre Grande and Maracas St. Joseph on Wednesday (29th January, 2025).  This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works. According to T&TEC, the affected areas in  Maraval, Claxton Bay, Sangre Grande and Maracas St. Joseph  are as follows: MARAVAL (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM)  Along Saddle Road: From LP #A441 heading South to Long Circular Road, including Bergerac Road, Shoppes of Maraval, Massy Stores, Starlite Pharmacy, Carmille Court, Adams Bagel, Gittens Avenue and all associated side streets. Caribbean Airlines Pilot, Technicians Removed From Active Duty After Emergency Landing Incident

Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) confirmed an emergency landing was declared for flight BW 1541, enroute from Tobago to Trinidad on Monday night (27th January, 2025). Reports state the aircraft encountered an engine issue on its way to Trinidad. A pilot and two (2) technicians have since been removed from active duty following the startling incident. In a brief Media Release issued at 11:00 PM on Monday night, CAL said the ATR 72-600 aircraft “landed safely at Piarco International Airport and all the required operational procedures are being followed regarding passengers and crew. The aircraft will be taken out of rotation to facilitate inspection.” During urgent questions in the Senate today (Tuesday 28th January, 2025), Finance Minister Colm Imbert confirmed the suspension of the crew and the investigation into the aircraft. Reports: BODY of 36-Year-Old Shashi Anand Rampersad Found In Forested Area In St. James

According to reports, the body of kidnapped businessman, 36-year-old Shashi Anand Rampersad, was found earlier today (Tuesday 28th January, 2025) in a forested area at Riverville Trace off Dibe Road in Long Circular, St. James. Rampersad, of Lange Park, Chaguanas, was  abducted at Pierre Trace, Enterprise, Chaguanas , since 21st November, 2024, where he went to deliver a load of gravel. A combined team of Police Officers, including those from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), acting on information provided to them by individuals involved in the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Rampersad, embarked on an exercise early this morning in St. James, where they later found his remains in the forest. Man Charged With Possession of Imitation Firearm, Robbery With Aggravation

A man appeared before the Courts on Monday (27th January, 2025), charged with possession of an imitation firearm and robbery with aggravation.  According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS),  Hercules Baksh  was charged with the offences after he was arrested by Officers of the Southern Division, in connection with a report of robbery with aggravation which occurred in the Princes Town district, on Saturday (25th January, 2025). A female victim reported to Police that she was robbed of a quantity of cigarettes and cash while at her St. Croix business place around 10:30 AM on that date. Investigations resulted in the arrest of a male suspect in a bushy area, approximately ten (10) minutes later. The stolen goods, cash and the imitation firearm were also seized. Investigations are ongoing.

Suspect Arrested For Robbery With Aggravation In Princes Town

Officers from the Princes Town Police Station have successfully arrested a man in connection with a robbery with aggravation and possession of an imitation firearm that occurred on Saturday (25th January, 2025). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), at approximately 10:30 AM, the victim, a 49-year-old account developer, was conducting sales at her mini-mart, located on St. Croix Road, Princes Town, when she was approached by a man known to her. The suspect, armed with a firearm, announced a robbery, demanded and took a quantity of assorted cigarettes and $676 in cash, before fleeing on foot into a bushy area opposite the business. Following the report of the robbery, Officers from the Princes Town Police Station swiftly responded to the scene and proceeded to search the bushy location, where the suspect was seen. The suspect was later apprehended, and the stolen items were recovered. Officers from CID are continuing investigations.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), the centre of the present North Atlantic high pressure cell is gradually drifting towards the far Eastern subtropical Atlantic, eventually reaching just to the Southeast of the Iberian Peninsula by Friday (31st January, 2025). This configuration is expected to continue to provide a long and generally straight fetch across the Tropical Atlantic, generating steady, moderate, near-surface to mid-level winds. Man Shot Dead In Downtown Port-of-Spain After Snatching Chain — Police On The Scene

UPDATE:   The alleged robbery suspect who was shot dead has been identified as 21-year-old Kareem King. A man is dead following a shooting incident in downtown Port-of-Spain a short while ago this afternoon (Monday 27th January, 2025). The deceased has not yet been identified. According to reports, a  51-year-old delivery driver, holder of a  licensed firearm,  was conducting his business on the corner of Janelle Penny Commissiong Street and Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain,   around 12:45 PM,   when he was accosted by two (2) men. One of the men pushed him toward a wall of a nearby building and demanded money.   The second suspect then grabbed and ripped off a gold chain from around the   delivery driver‘s   neck. Williamsville Murder-Suicide: Retired TSTT Worker Shoots His 57-Year-Old Wife, Then Himself

A man and his wife are dead following a murder-suicide in Williamsville last night (Sunday 26th January, 2025). The deceased have been identified as 65-year-old TSTT retiree Michael Ram and his wife, 57-year-old Sunita Ram, both of Piparo Junction Road, Williamsville. According to reports, the tragic incident occurred around 9:00 PM in their living room, when Michael, alleged to have been intoxicated, accused Sunita of being unfaithful during a heated argument. The couple's two (2) adult children were also in the house at the time. It is alleged Michael then shot his wife with a shotgun, in full view of their children. Sunita collapsed to the ground and was unresponsive. It is further alleged that Michael also attempted to shoot his children, who became fearful for their lives and ran out of the house to alert neighbours.
