T&TEC: NO Electricity On Thursday In Parts of Valencia, Cunupia, Palmiste

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Valencia, Cunupia and Palmiste on Thursday (5th March, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works.  According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Valencia, Cunupia and Palmiste are as follows:  VALENCIA (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM) From LP #92 to LP #95 from Valencia Bypass Road on Barbuda Road. CUNUPIA (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM) From corner of Alligator Trace North and Ramjohn Trace heading South to pole #53/13 on Ramjohn Trace and all associated side streets, inclusive of Deonarine Street. PALMISTE (8:30 AM to 3:30 PM) LP #24 Palmiste Boulevard to LP #1 Coldtrust Avenue, including Renn Avenue, Janet Drive and all associated side streets. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

BODY Found Washed Ashore In Tobago Identified As ‘Stacy’ From Golconda, San Fernando

Following the discovery of a partially decomposed body along the shoreline at Blenheim Bay, Tobago, on Tuesday afternoon (Tuesday 3rd March, 2026), the deceased has been identified by tattoos as “Stacy” from Golconda, San Fernando. A formal identification is pending. Police in Tobago have since launched a homicide investigation. According to reports, Officers on mobile patrol along Windward Road, Mt. St. George, were alerted by residents to a body seen floating in the sea, around 3:00 PM. The body later washed ashore near the new Mt. St George/Goodwood electoral district office. With the assistance of civilians in the area, Officers were able to retrieve the body. Authorities reported that the deceased appeared to be a woman, who was found unclothed, with a rope wrapped around her neck. Veterinarian Provides Update On Wounded ‘Papaoutai The Ocelot’

Veterinarian Dr. Kriyaan Singh from the La Romain Veterinary Clinic has provided an update on Papaoutai the Ocelot, which was found shot and wounded in the Cedros-Granville forest on Sunday 22nd February, 2026. In a Facebook post on Tuesday (3rd March, 2026), Dr. Singh said, “Finally able to share the 3D rendering of the CT scan done on Papaoutai the Ocelot. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect generally sunny, hazy and breezy conditions today (Wednesday 4th March, 2026), with the chance of the odd isolated shower. Partly cloudy spells and isolated showers are likely during the evening and night.  Gusts can accompany showers. A  Hazardous Seas Alert (Yellow Level)  is in effect until Thursday evening (5th March, 2026). The Met Office notes that a mild to moderate concentration of Saharan dust is present. Sensitive persons are advised to take the necessary precautions. BODY Washes Ashore At Beach In Tobago — Police Investigating

UPDATE (04/03/26): The body found washed ashore in Tobago has been identified as “Stacy” from Golconda, San Fernando . She was reportedly found unclothed, with a rope wrapped around her neck. A body washed ashore at a beach in the village of Hope, Tobago, this afternoon (Tuesday 3rd March, 2026). The deceased has not yet been identified. The area in which the body was found is in the vicinity of the newly-constructed district office for Mt. St. George/Goodwood THA Area Representative Megan Morrison. Police were alerted and responded to the scene. The area was cordoned off. Prominent Businessman Shot Dead At His Home In Arima — Police Investigating

A businessman is dead following a shooting incident at his home in Arima on Monday night (2nd March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Azard Pooran of Plumrose Avenue, Santa Rosa, Arima. He was a prominent bookseller in the community — the owner of Shock'N Stock Booksellers & Stationers at the Shoppes of Arima. According to reports, Pooran was at his home when he was attacked and fatally shot in the driveway. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded. However, Pooran succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His murder has sent shockwaves through the Arima business community, where Pooran was widely known for operating his longstanding bookstore at the Shoppes of Arima. For years, the bookstore served students, teachers and families across the Borough, particularly during the back-to-school season. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. 60-Year-Old Man Dies In House Fire In Barrackpore

The burnt remains of a man was found after a fire destroyed his Barrackpore home on Sunday evening (1st March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Bachan Samlal of Sand Hill Trace, Barrackpore. He was said to have been a stroke patient. According to reports, Samlal became trapped inside the small dwelling when it became engulfed in flames, shortly after 5:00 PM. An alarm was raised by his former common-law wife who lives next door. She told Police she had briefly left her home to pick breadfruit, approximately 200 feet away. Upon returning around 5:20 PM, however, she observed Samlal’s house ablaze and immediately contacted the Barrackpore Police Station. Officers responded and met fire personnel from the Mon Repos Fire Station, who were actively battling the blaze. Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, has announced the start of another State of Emergency (SoE) in Trinidad and Tobago, effective from today (Tuesday 3rd March, 2026). Firearm, Stolen Vehicle Recovered In Mon Repos

Officers attached to the Southern Division Road Enforcement Task Force responded to a report of robbery with violence in the Mon Repos district on Friday (27th February, 2025). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), at approximately 2:00 PM, a dark blue Hyundai Tucson was reported stolen. Around 2:15 PM, the stolen vehicle was observed along the Golconda Connector Road in the vicinity of the traffic lights. A vehicular pursuit ensued, and the vehicle was intercepted at approximately 2:20 PM in an empty lot of land. Upon interception, two (2) male suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot in a Westerly direction into nearby bushes. During the foot pursuit, both suspects reportedly raised their hands in the direction of the pursuing officers, and several loud explosions were heard. Met Office Issues Hazardous Seas Alert Until Thursday Evening

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued a Hazardous Seas Alert (Yellow Level) for a total of seventy-four (74) hours. The Alert begins at 4:00 PM today (Monday 2nd March, 2026) and will remain in effect until 6:00 PM on Thursday (5th March, 2026) for Northern and Eastern-exposed coastlines of Trinidad and Tobago. According to the Met Office, the sea conditions along the Northern and Eastern-exposed coastal areas, including offshore regions, are expected to deteriorate to rough conditions, with wave heights maintaining in excess of 2.5m and reaching up to 3m. This is due to relatively strong winds that are agitating the sea surface, leading to large waves and potentially dangerous sea conditions.  Impacts Agitated seas are likely to be particularly perilous for offshore activities. Diego Martin Man Shot Dead Inside Barataria Home — Police Investigating

A man is dead following a shooting incident in Barataria earlier today (Sunday 1st March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Rivaldo Pierre of Gilkes Street, Four Roads, Diego Martin.  According to reports, Pierre was shot inside a house along 10th Street, Barataria. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. However, Pierre succumbed to his injuries.
