The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Chaguaramas, Woodbrook, St. Augustine, Mt. Hope, Cunupia and Libertville on Thursday (1st October, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works.  According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Chaguaramas, Woodbrook, St. Augustine, Mt. Reminder: Driver’s Licences Can Be Renewed Up To 3 Months Before Expiry; Online Renewal Available

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is reminding the public that holders of valid Driver’s Licences can renew their licences up to three (3) months before the expiration date. In a Media Release on Tuesday (29th September, 2026), the Ministry said the extended renewal period follows an amendment to the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Regulations under the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act , Chapter 48:50, by Legal Notice No. 48 of 2026. Previously, Driver’s Licences could only be renewed one (1) month prior to the expiration date. However, with effect from 16th March, 2026, the renewal period was extended to three (3) months before expiry. The Ministry said this “provides motorists with greater flexibility to renew their licences in advance, helps to reduce last-minute renewals and supports more efficient service delivery.” The Ministry is also reminding the public that motorists whose driving permits have been expired for no more than five (5) years , can apply for renewal...

62-Year-Old Man Drowns While Spearfishing Off Coast of La Fillette, Blanchisseuse

A man has drowned after he got into difficulty while spearfishing off the coast of La Fillette, Blanchisseuse, last evening (Tuesday 29th September, 2026), in the company of his brother. The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Neil Kaiser of Mount Lambert. According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), a valiant effort was made by his brother to bring him to the rocky coastline, then with the assistance of Police Officers, he was taken up to the North Coast Road and placed in a vehicle, all while resuscitation efforts were being administered. He was then transferred to an Ambulance in Las Cuevas and taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (POSGH) for emergency medical treatment. Hog-Tied BODY Found Off Trantrill Road, Caroni — Police Investigating

The body of a man was found in a river off Trantrill Road, Caroni, this morning (Wednesday 30th September, 2026). While the deceased has not yet been identified, the body has reportedly been described as an adult male of African descent, approximately six (6) feet tall. According to reports, the body was spotted by motorists, around 8:00 AM. Police were alerted and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found the already-deceased victim hog-tied — both hands and feet bound with duct tape — while the mouth and face were also wrapped with duct tape. Blood was reportedly found on the body. It is believed the man may have been killed elsewhere before his body was taken to the Trantrill area and dumped sometime on Tuesday (29th September, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect sunny and hazy conditions today (Wednesday 30th September, 2026), interrupted by partly cloudy intervals with scattered showers and a low chance of the isolated thunderstorm. Showery activity is likely to increase during the evening and early tomorrow morning, with settled periods at times. There is a medium (40%) chance of these showers becoming heavy and/or thundery over some areas. Gusty winds and street/flash flooding can occur in the event of heavy showers or thunderstorms. Police Destroy 8.3 Tonnes of Illegal Narcotics At Caroni Cremation Site — Worth An Estimated $1.6 Billion

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it destroyed more than 8.3 tonnes of illegal narcotics today (Tuesday 29th September, 2026) at the Caroni Cremation Site, with an estimated street value of $1.6 billion. The drugs were seized in multiple operations and arrests, by the Southern, Eastern, North Eastern Divisions and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), some dating back to 2005. According to the TTPS, the destroyed narcotics included: 3.08 tonnes of cocaine, valued at approximately $1.431 billion. 5.22 tonnes of marijuana, valued at approximately $156 million. 4.87 kilograms of ecstasy and heroin, valued at approximately $13 million. $1.6 BILLION IN ILLEGAL DRUGS DESTROYED Today, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) destroyed more than $1.6 billion in illegal drugs by estimated street value. 25-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In D'Abadie — 14 Spent Shells Found

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in D'Abadie late Sunday night (27th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Darnel Rudulpho. According to reports, residents alerted Police about several loud explosions heard at a property located along Piarco Old Road, D'Abadie, around 11:56 PM. Upon arrival at the property, Officers found Rudulpho bleeding from the face and body. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries. The scene was subsequently processed by members of the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU), who recovered fourteen (14) spent shells. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. Coast Guard Intercepts Pirogue With Marijuana Valued At Over TT $25 Million; 3 Venezuelans Held

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) is confirming that during the early hours of Monday (28th September, 2026), a pirogue bound for Trinidad was intercepted in the Gulf of Paria. According to the Coast Guard, the vessel had three (3) foreign nationals onboard, later identified as Venezuelan nationals, with a quantity of compressed, plant-like material contained in a total of 411 sealed packages. The packages have since been confirmed as marijuana following analysis by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Special Investigations Unit (TTPS SIU). The marijuana weighed a total of 231.42 Kg with an estimated street value of TT $25,456,200. 39-Year-Old Arima Man Charged With SECOND Murder Case

An Arima man, already facing murder and firearm-related charges, has appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with another murder and the attempted murder of a woman. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Renaldo Thomas, 39, of Sherwood Park, Arima, was charged with the murder of Bhyman Madhoo , attempted murder, possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, when he appeared before Master Lisa Singh-Phillip at the High Court, Criminal Division, on Wednesday 23rd September, 2026. The Sufficiency Hearing date was set for 6th April, 2027. The TTPS said Madhoo, aka “Bobby,” a gardener/construction worker, of Sangre Grande, was in the company of a woman, when he was shot and killed on Friday 11th September, 2026 in the Arima district. Age Limits For Alcohol, Tobacco, Cannabis And Gambling To Be Raised

Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, announced a short while ago this afternoon (Monday 28th September, 2026) that the UNC Government will bring a Bill to Parliament on Wednesday (30th September, 2026), which proposes to raise the minimum legal age for alcohol and tobacco from 18 years to 21 years, the minimum legal age for cannabis from 18 years to 25 years, and the minimum legal age for gambling, also from 18 years to 25 years. Gallai reportedly told Police he was accosted by two (2) men near a pharmacy in Couva. There are also reports that more than $150,000 was either withdrawn or spent through his bank account during his disappearance. Disney+ Gets More Expensive As New Subscription Prices Take Effect

Disney+ has increased the price of several of its subscription plans in the United States, with the latest price changes already in effect from 23rd September, 2026. Interestingly, this is Disney+’s fourth price hike in four (4) years, following increases in October 2025, October 2024, October 2023 and December 2022. According to Disney’s updated pricing information, the monthly price of the ad-supported Disney+ plan has increased from US $11.99 to US $12.49 , while the premium, ad-free plan has risen from US $18.99 to US $21.49 per month. The premium plan therefore represents a US $2.50 monthly increase, or 13%. The company has also increased the annual price of Disney+ Premium to US $214.99. Disney says subscribers who were already signed up before 23rd September, 2026 will begin seeing the new prices on billing cycles on or after 21st October, 2026. BODY Found On Bank of Cunapo River In Sangre Grande — Police On The Scene

According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), led by Captain Vallence Rambharat, a decomposing body was found last night (Sunday 27th September, 2026) on the bank of the Cunapo River, Coalmine, Sangre Grande. The deceased has not yet been identified. A man reportedly contacted the HSRT and alerted them that he spotted a body in the river. The information was then relayed to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). The HSRT said two (2) persons are currently listed as missing in that general area. They are Phillip Edmund, who went missing from Cunaripo Village, Guaico/Tamana Road, Sangre Grande, on 7th September, 2026, and Gabriel Nathaniel Thomas, who went missing on 16th September, 2026. The TTPS confirmed this morning (Monday 28th September, 2026) that the body is currently being recovered. Cannabis Valued At $159,100 Seized In New Grant

Officers of the Southern Division Task Force, Area East, seized 3.182 kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated street value of TT $159,100, during an operation in New Grant, Princes Town, last night (Saturday 26th September, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 9:30 PM, Officers acted on information received from a confidential informant and proceeded to a bushy track along Farmers Trace, New Grant, in the vicinity of the Seventh Day Assembly Pentecostal Church. The team, comprising PCs Basdeo, Hospedales, Aqui and Caddle, conducted a search approximately 300 feet from the roadway. During the search, the Officers discovered a large black plastic bag concealed beneath several sheets of galvanized material. The bag contained four (4) sealed transparent packets and one (1) plastic wrapping, each containing a quantity of cannabis. The items were taken to the St. Mary’s Police Station, where they were weighed and found to have a combined weight of 3,182 ...

Desalcott Shutdown: Temporary Water Supply Schedules For Central And South Trinidad

UPDATE (01/10/26):  As maintenance continues at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant, WASA said it will rotate supply between the Central and South Regions until 6:00 PM on Sunday (4th October, 2026). According to the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), the Point Lisas Desalination Plant will undergo planned maintenance from 12:00 PM on Monday 28th September, 2026 to 12:00 PM on Sunday 4th October, 2026. During this period, water supply to parts of Central and South Trinidad may be affected.
